Who this policy applies to
This Privacy Policy applies to families and provider partners who interact with The Right Step Collective through our website, intake forms, phone calls, emails, or in-person visits. It describes what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you submit an intake form, we collect the information you choose to share with us, typically your name, contact details, your child's age and developmental notes you choose to share, the kind of care you're looking for, your neighborhood, your schedule, and your budget or WCCC status.
Conversations. When you contact us by phone or email, we keep notes of the conversation so we can match you well, remember details that matter, and follow up appropriately.
Provider information. For provider partners, we collect your license number, contact information, program details, staff and capacity information, tuition, and information about your current openings.
Website analytics. Our website collects basic, privacy-respecting analytics such as pages viewed, approximate region, and referring site. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
How we use it
We use the information you provide for one purpose: matching you with licensed daycares that genuinely fit your family, or for providers, matching you with families who fit your program.
We share relevant details with daycares only after you've consented to be introduced. After placement, we use your contact information for our scheduled check-ins (Day 7, Day 30, Month 3, Month 6, and Month 12).
Who we share information with
We share information only with: (a) daycare providers you have consented to be introduced to; (b) our small internal team that handles matching and follow-ups; and (c) infrastructure vendors that host our forms, email, and database under written confidentiality and security commitments.
We never share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or social-media platforms. We do not run remarketing or behavioral advertising.
How we store it
Family and provider information is stored in encrypted, access-controlled systems. Form submissions are kept inside private accounts only accessible to our team. We do not store payment information for families because families never pay us.
We retain your information for as long as we are actively working with you, plus a reasonable period afterward to support follow-ups, recordkeeping, and the legal obligations of operating our business. You can request deletion at any time.
Children's information
We collect limited information about children (age, developmental notes a parent chooses to share, schedule needs) only from a parent or legal guardian, only to facilitate a placement. We never market to children, profile children, or share children's information beyond the providers a parent has agreed to be matched with.
What we never do
- • We never sell, rent, or trade your information to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party.
- • We never share your information with daycares you haven't agreed to be matched with.
- • We never use your data to market unrelated products or services.
- • We never run behavioral advertising or third-party trackers on our website.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, update, export, or delete your information at any time. If you live in a jurisdiction with specific privacy laws (such as Washington's My Health My Data Act or California's CCPA), you may have additional rights under those laws and we will honor them.
Email us at contact@therightstepcollective.com and we'll respond within two business days.
Security
We use industry-standard practices to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limited to our small team, and regular review of who has access to what. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this responsibility seriously and treat your data the way we would want ours treated.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify families and providers we are actively working with by email.
